FINE WINES & SPIRITS
tue 2 - fri 12 May 2023
Italian and French wines and spirits are the protagonists of this auction, among the Italians we discover Brunello Biondi-Santi, Tignanello, Gaja Sorì Tildin, several Barolos including a Monfortino, two splendid bottles of Ferrari "Centanni" sparkling wine each in a box set . The catalog also features some of the most sought-after French wines such as Château Mouton Rothschild, Chateau Latour, a Sauternes Château d'Yquem and among the distillates the rare Marc de Bourgogne from the 1949 Romanée Conti.
The prospective buyer should keep in mind some general warnings. While distillates usually have alcohol content of at least 40°, contemporary normal wines average between 12.5° and 14.5°. Higher alcohol content, up to about 20°, for the so-called fortified wines, such as Port, Madeira, Sherry and Marsala. The high alcohol content is largely preserved by oxidation. The older the wine, the more it is subject to a possible drop in the liquid it contains and sometimes in the alcohol content, and therefore to a certain oxidation.
The bottles exhibited in this auction are all found in the original cellars of the owners and were not brought to the premises of the Auction House in order not to subject them to even partial stress due to movement, since they are often wines over ten years old. They are therefore not visible on site, but auction participants can request a condition report by contacting our experts.
